Founded in 2006, SC2 takes advantage Steve Charter’s expertise and track record in the sustainability field, and is an independent consultancy focused on the practicalities of achieving sustainability, particularly at regional and local level. SC2 has specialisms in sustainable construction, sustainable communities and sustainable lifestyles/sustainable living. Steve Charter proposed and helped set up STSD in Somerset (est. 2000), now operating very successfully as Ecos Trust and Ecos Homes; helped significantly in advancing the SusCon project; and has been working with Kirklees Council to advance plans for a Yorkshire Centre for Sustainable Buildings.
SC2 has particular expertise in sustainable construction skills projects:
i) comprehensive sustainable buildings skills programmes (i.e. construction, building services and built environment professions) and
ii) business plans for sustainable construction skills centres
SC2 is also working with partners on proposals for Sustainable Enterprise Parks and clusters – business parks catering for companies and organisations delivering services and products that respond proactively sustainability and climate change objectives, including innovation hubs and training centres.
SC2 has a holistic understanding of sustainability issues, supported by 15 years experience in this field – working in public, private, not-for-profit and education sectors, from grass-roots to national policy.
SC2 has particular strengths in projects that include strategic approaches to delivering: learning and skills; enterprise and sustainable supply chain development; sustainable procurement; sustainable innovation; sustainable manufacturing capacity. Such projects can include clustering together sustainable innovations hubs, sustainable construction training, research and visitor centre, creative, knowledge and social enterprise clusters.
